BMW X4

        The All New BMW X4

BMW is all set to take on the indian market with it's new coupe X4. This vehicle is based on BMW's new design language which lays emphasis on sleek and sharp styling providing an understated look to the car. This car shares it's build platform with X3 which makes it more reliable in terms of design layout. The X4 has been recently spotted testing in Chennai where the company is planning it's manufacturing. Now its all set and launched today already, where BMW Motors has unveiled the X4 and has qouted the prices of the Beemer Coupe SUV.

FACTS: It is the first time that an even numbered Beemer Series has been launched in India.

TECHNICALITIES:

  • ENGINE

The X4 is available with three engine options -
        1. 2.0 litre Diesel Motor which is a 4-cylinder unit (Displacement-1995cc) producing 190
Horses(bhp) @4000 rpm and 400 Nm of torque @1750-2500 rpm with a claimed economy
            of 17Kmpl. (xDrive 20d M Sport X)

        2. 3.0 litre Diesel Motor which is a 6-cylinder unit (Displacement-2993cc) producing immense
            265 Horses(bhp) @4000 rpm and 620 Nm of torque @1750-2500 rpm with a surprisingly
            claimed economy of 15Kmpl. (xDrive 30d M Sport X)

        3. 2.0 litre 4-cylinder Petrol unit (Displacement-1998cc) producing some impressive figures
            claiming 252 Horses(bhp) @5200 rpm and 350 Nm @ 1450-4800 rpm with an improved
            economy of 11Kmpl. (xDrive 30i M Sport X)

DESIGN LAYOUT:

     EXTERIORS:
  • The older X4 launched in 2014 was conceived more as a baby X6 rather than a mid sized Coupe SUV. Eventually it was improved, Considering it as an sportier alter-ego of X3, it got coupe styling with rear wide wings giving it an aggressive stance. Not a Claimed offroader but its large polygonal wheel arches provides a fair amout of ground clearance.

  • All the muscle and those bold body lines help it stand out in crowd. Headlamps could be mistaken for an X6 but it's signature tailights it distinguishes itself for other X siblings. Also, there is not to expect for this segment as it's got some weird looking vehicles already. ( GLC coupe and Range Rover Velar - Not so pleasing to eyes).

     INTERIORS:

  • Inside the cabin, It feels young and fresh with all the black treatment on the M-Sport trim, which have been launched in India. It get everything from wireless charging to Andriod Auto and Apple Car Play, from Heads Up Display to Voice Commands.

  • Some Set Of Standard Features (Ones I could get hold off)
Six Airbags, ABS, Cornering Brake Control, BMW Dynamic Control and Traction Set-
up, Isofixed Child Seat Mounts, Tyre Pressure Monitoring, Adaptive Suspension
( a bit on the stiffer side), Adaptive LED Headlamps, Rain Sensing Wipers, Drive
Modes (Eco-Pro, Comfort, Sport, Sport+), Auto Headlamps, Ambient Lighting (could
offer BMW Sky Lounge), Auto-Dimming & Electrically Foldable OVRM's, Auto-
Dimming IRVM, Panoramic Sunroof, Three Zone Automatic Climate Control, Front
and Reverse Parking Sensors with Rear Parking Camera And Much More

IN SHORT, It is a feature - loaded vehicle.

DRIVERING EXPERIENCE AND REVIEW:

Tho I haven't got my hands on this beemer, but what I've learnt from BMW and some
reviewers, This car gets different tuning from the X3's chassis, so you get a much firmer suspension set for that sporty feel. However, ride quality at low speeds is a bit compromised but put your foot down, and that 3.0 litre engine pins you back into the seat, there is just immense 600 Nm of torque waiting a press of a throttle away.

That power is distributed into the BMW's Four Wheel Drive System
